About the Author,
Sam F. ("Sandy") McDonough, Jr.

The author of “Our Founding Fathers' Homes and Churches in Virginia” is a life-long Dallas resident, and he spent over a year in researching and writing about his heritage.  Sandy graduated from Highland Park High School and Baylor University.  He joined the Marine Corps in 1966 and later worked in his family business, Overhead Door Company of Dallas, for 14 years. Sandy has been a professional Realtor for over 25 years and has also been active in many political campaigns.  The father of three sons, he continues to work as a Realtor and lives in Dallas with his wife and youngest son.

The book is a photographic history of many 17^th and 18^th century homes and churches, which are mostly found in the northern neck of Virginia.  These magnificent homes, many of which are museums today, and churches were built by our forefathers and have survived the ravages of time and war.  The book contains text, much of it devoted to the founding fathers and the events of that important period of our history.
